Super Burrito - Bend Oregon

Super Burrito

My friend went to the new Super Burrito before I got the opportunity and he said "I don't think they're going to make it there. How can they keep that location busy?" Well, when I went for lunch late last week and there was a line out the door and every table was filled. What do you have to say now Lucas?

I visited the old location a couple of times and had mixed results. The new location appears to be much cleaner and the food seemed to taste better. I had the carnitas burrito and some taquitos. But since photos of burritos never work out for me, I took a pic of my friend's carnitas tacos.

I was truly amazed by all the customers and loyal followers that Super Burrito has and had on the day that I visited. The CarniBORes LOVE Super Burrito. Even with as busy as it was, my food only took a few minutes to get there. Plus it was 50% off day which I didn't know about. I spent $5 on my burrito, taquitos, and a soda. What a great deal!

The burrito was packed with meat, beans, cheese, and a medley of onions and tomatoes. On every other bite I squeezed on a little of their hot sauce into the mix. I love their hot sauce. I'll be back fo sho!

Super Burrito is Coming Back!!

A few loyal BOR visitors tipped me off to the banner hanging outside of the now vacant Makahna's Trattoria that reads "something something (banner is falling down a bit) Super Burrito is Back". I guess the quotes are unnecessary as I had a margarita at lunch and can't remember what it read. I think it was more like Coming Soon, Super Burrito...We're Back.

Whatever. Word on the street is that they are trying to get thing's done so they can be open by Dec. 1. Hope it happens and I hope that they can manage to keep that huge location filled with burrito loving patrons. It's got to be 100 times the size of the closet that they occupied on Minnesota before being crudely evicted. (oh that margarita is really kicking in...yeah I'll totally blame the liquor)

Good news though as there are fewer places to eat downtown for a quick and affordable lunch. Makahna's wasn't on my list as they were not even close to being quick nor affordable (or very good for that matter).

Good for you Super Burrito!! May I suggest adding a BORrito to the menu? Marinated pork, mixed beans (refried and black for you gringos), cheese, and rice. Have it be extra large as I'm a big boy. That's my BORrito. Let's do this!

Super Burrito is Closing...Moving?

Super Burrito

I was reading Duncan's post on Super Burrito closing and thought that today I'd go down there for lunch to check out the situation. Then I read Lyle's comment about how the Bulletin should hire me (where do I send my resume?). So I was checking out the Bulletin this morning to see where I apply and found their article on Super Burrito being forced out.

"At the beginning of the month, Moreno (SB Owner) said DesertScape issued a 30-day notice to move out because the space would no longer be used for food service."

"Central Oregon residents loyal to downtown’s Super Burrito have until Tuesday to gobble up the restaurant’s generous portions of quickly made and affordably priced Mexican food."

I liked that Super Burrito was downtown. I thought it was a good place to get a quick bite really cheap. Seems like there are not many options left downtown unless you want to buy from the street vendors.

There are many many Mexican restaurants in Bend. I wonder how Super Burrito will do outside of downtown when they are competing against the Taco Stand, Pepe's, the El Caporal gang or restaurants, La Rosa, and so on.

You have until Tuesday July 31st to get your downtown Super Burrito on.

Super Burrito, Bend Oregon

Super Burrito, Bend Oregon

My last experience with the Al Pastor Burrito was not nearly as good as my last trip to Super Burrito in Downtown Bend. I decided to keep things simple and get the Beef, Bean, and Cheese. It was absolutely delicious and hit the spot. Their hot sauce is a great addition and I highly recommend asking for an extra one if you're taking it to-go.

The photo doesn't really matter since the burrito is going to look the same no matter which one you get I guess. I am hoping to get some feedback and recommendations on which burrito or dish to try on my next visit to Super Burrito. I have no idea what's good here as I'm not a frequent visitor. I do know that the Al Pastor was not that good at all and the Beef, Bean, and cheese was awesome for being so simple.

As I normally search for the restaurant I just wrote about, I came across these older posts from 2004 but it's not good:

GROSS! The burrito was still good and I didn't see any roaches on this visit. Going back there anytime soon? That's still up in the air.
