Anthony's - Bend Oregon

Anthony's HomePort

Anthony's Sunset Dinner is a four-course dinner that includes a choice of appetizer, chowder or salad, entree and dessert and is served Monday through Friday, until 6 p.m.

I went for the shrimp cocktail app, the chowder, prawns, and the chocholate moose. The wife got the same starters, the salmon, and the burnt cream.

For $18 it seemed like a great deal at the time. But as we worked our way through the meal, it was apparent that there were corners being cut. Like the cocktail looks good but if you look closely you'll see that more than half of the glass is filled with diced celery. My prawns were small in size and quantity. I mean I like the variety of courses but it just seemed to be lacking in quality for each course.

My prawns were drenched in butter/oil and it wasn't that good. The rice and green beans were underseasoned. Overall we felt the meals were quite bland.

I'd go to Anthony's again but I think I'll stick with the fish tacos.

Wow. I've always enjoyed Anthony's. Their "Hawaiian Nachos" are fantastic. We'd go on Sundays for all-you-can-eat crab and loved that, too.

Bummer that you had a boring meal....

I agree that the fish tacos are worth coming back for. Thanks for the heads-up on the sunset dinner.

Too noisy, staff is rude-often unaccommodating.

Food is mediocre at best and formalistic

We love the Halibut Fish & Chips! Best we've ever had. The chowder is pretty good too.

Seriously...Anthony's is one of those restaurants that leans heavily on their reputation but fails when the rubber meets the road. The food is a notch above the typical casino buffet I find myself hovering over at 2AM after downing 7 G&T's and losing my shirt. Hmmmm...that's an idea...head out to Anthony's the next time I find myself three sheets to the wind.

I just have to add that Anthony's used to be one of my fave places to spend my hubby's birthdays because of the All-You-Can-Eat Crab on Sundays--his favorite food in the world. However, I was seriously disappointed to find out they quit serving that after all these years--I've been going to Anthony's for various occasions since my college days in Seattle. We were hoping to share the Anthony's crab experience with some friends who are new to Bend from P-Town. I guess it is a sign of either tough economic times or over-fishing in the ocean--who knows.

Our meals in the most part were good.
Calamaria was over cooked. Shrimp were on the small side. Clam chowder was very good. Pan Fried oysters were very good. Razor clams were very good. Crab cakes were on the small side for the price but were all crab with no fillers. They were very tasty.

Prices on the high side but not out of line for location.

We will go back.

For the price the food was not up to par..
We had two alaskan razor claims entrees, one true cod and chips and prawns tempura.
Razor claims were heavy on the bread.
cod and chips were good but for 18 bucks some improvements could be made and the Prawns put my girlfriend hugging the thrown afterwards (vomiting). All around bad experience. Would recommend it when its not busy and do some research before you go to avoid order food that is, as HopHound would put it, "a notch above typical casino buffett".
