I'm NOT Moving to Cali

UPDATE @ 10pm on 4/1/08. I'm not going anywhere. Merry April Fools losers!!

------

To all my loyal readers I wanted to say thanks for all of your comments and support. But it is with a heavy heart I have to announce that I'm shutting down the Bend Oregon Restaurants Blog.

It has been fun writing about all the different restaurants but I have not been able to keep gainful employment here in Bend. I'm moving to San Mateo for a great new opportunity for me. With the recession as well as the cost of living here in Bend I just can't afford to live here while going out to eat like I do. Over the next couple weeks I will be traveling back and forth quite a bit. I doubt that I'll be able to get any posts going so this may be my last one.

In retrospect I probably could have eaten at home more often and saved my money but then my blog would have sucked ass. I'd have to make fun of my own cooking and service. "The taco salad was good but I'd like a little more beef. Why so cheap with the meat there hippy. Plus the chef was rude." I've been using 'hippy' a lot lately.

If anyone is interested in taking over the blog, please feel free to shoot me an email. I'm willing to hand over the username and password to someone with the drive to continue writing these hilarious and snarky reviews.

Thanks again to all of you that have sent nice comments and emails my way in support of my comments/reviews. Please keep in touch. To all of you that disagreed with me, Testa di cazzo.

Say it isn't so!!! Have thoroughly enjoyed your blog over the last couple of years. Always came here for fresh ideas on where to go out to eat (and the snarkiness was always appreciated). Good luck to you. Gerry

Noooo! What a bummer. I've really enjoyed reading your reviews.

You'll be missed, BOR. Thanks.

PS Please leave the blog up for as long as you can so the rest of us here in town can use it as a resource!

Sorry to hear it, man. Been a fan for a while. Let me know if you want to grab some Baldy's wings sometime before you head down south - it's on me...

Noooooooooooo! Say it ain't true, BOR! Who's going to tell us where to eat, where they serve bacon on everything, where you just don't get enough food, where the best ribs and hot wings are?! Who, I ask? No one can replace you, we're all the wiser because you put yourself out there. YOU are the one going to restaurants, day in and day out, eating as much as you possibly can, testing the meals in each and every cafe & eatery around so that WE don't have to. You take one for the team, we follow your lead, you are our Leader, BOR.

Well, leave a forwarding blog address for all your eating out adventures in California. Good luck!

Good riddins!

Just when I was planning to open up my drive-thru Top Ramen shack on the West Side (because we all know the West Side is trendier than the East Side) and have you review it.

I'm sure the review would have gone like this:

"Monkey's Drive-Thru Top Ramen Shack is the bomb. And When I say bomb, I mean the kind that sits in your tummy like six slices of pumpkin pie from Thanksgiving. The feeling that if you ate another you'd explode all over the wall like water balloon filled with chocolate pudding. Yeah, that kind. "

"The broth is hot, which is good, because honestly, warm broth is too similar to hobo sweat. The Monkey's noodles? Well, don't get me started, because something this good and long should always be in my mouth. Hot broth and long noodles is one of the combinations in the universe that causes one to look upwards and give thanks."

"Sorry, I had to use my cell-phone for the photos, because when I was handed my bowl of Broth Too Hot, Noodles Long Time special, some of the hot broth spilled on my lap and caused me to scream like a banshee and shatter the lens on my real camera. My bad"

And the fact that I'm announcing my West Side Drive-Thru Top Ramen Shack on your blog, especially on this day, April 1, 2008, is proof that I'm just as much as fool as the rest of you.

Oh, too bad. If I lived in Bend, I would totally consider the replacement blogger position. I hope there is some Bend-ite willing to fill your shoes. Best of luck in CA.
